Give people the opportunity to reject you.

Don't count yourself out before you've had a chance.

Sometimes your own biggest blocker to opportunities is yourself. Whether it’s talking yourself out of applying to jobs you probably can’t get or not volunteering for something because they probably will get better applicants, a lot of people’s biggest rejector is themselves.

Don’t reject yourself. Give others the opportunity to reject you.

If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. But who knows – if you try, you might get a yes!

The more you apply for things that seem out of reach, or ask for things that are a bit of a stretch, the more comfortable you’ll feel with getting an external rejection. It might never feel easy, but practicing it and experiencing it will make it feel more natural over time.
